Why Be A Volunteer, Nude, Unpaid, Female Life-Model?
A large number of ladies have been volunteer models for JP over the years. You may wonder "why they do this?" Here are some of the reasons we have been given by these ladies:
- A woman wants to be part of a creative process with a fine artist
- A woman wants to be the centre of attention for a man to stare at her, without touching her, in a safe environment.
- A younger woman wants her body immortalised in art before age, childbirth, or gravity takes their toll
- An older woman has come wanting to pose as it's on her "bucketlist" before she dies
- A woman has breast cancer and may lose her breasts, she wants art to remember them for her (and her husband)
- A woman with a serious illness has come wanting to leave a picture of health for her loved ones.
- A woman wants to pose JUST for the professional artist but NOT for a group/class session
- Posing for fine art isn't as invasive or as identifiable as posing nude for a photographer. Women feel safer with the artist.
- A woman is rarely easily recognisable in a nude sketch, unlike a nude photograph. (no photography is allowed during any life drawing session)
- A woman wants FREE art of herself. An agreed share of all the art created during the session is given free-of-charge to the volunteer posing lady to keep, for her own pleasure.
- A woman wants to be a paid model but doesn't feel confident enough to start nude in front of a group of strangers, thus has a free session with JP who teaches her easy poses to start with, whilst sketching her. 50% of the sketches produced during this session she can take away with her. Most ladies 'new to life modelling" start off this way.
BUT...I'm a Man and I Want To Volunteer...
JP is primarily and has always been an artist of the female form. If you are a man and you want to model for JP, you will have to pay him for his time and skill, as there is no relative value to JP to draw you. JP's entire sales portfolio is of women, thus he has no need to fill this space with pictures of the nude male form. Sorry.
