Political: Art For A Cause, Or To Start Conversation.

Most of John Patrick's' clients and income comes from women. Thus, with a background in ministry, counselling victims of trauma and medical science, John Patrick ardently supports and protects the role of women in society. He has created, donated, sold art for specific causes and charitable goals, most of which have been in support of cancer-research or causes relating to women.

Highlighting Public Violence Against Women (sold)

Picture
This picture shows the simple outline of an anonymous and beautiful young woman, lying naked in a pool of bright red blood. Sadly, she only became a "person of interest" after the world's press reported that she had been violently attacked in public because she was a woman and subsequently died of her injuries. This reporting was to the embarrassment of her native government, who were forced to respond and improve policing to protect women.
Picture
Screenshot from the Liverpool Amazing Art Sale catalogue site, showing John Patrick's painting, marked as sold. This was a sale of donated works, from UK and International artists supporting refugees, many of whom were women and children.

"Caged"

Moss Art Gallery, Norway. Sold, in support of a local refuge for the women survivors of domestic violence
Picture
Created to highlight the plight of women suffering violence in domestic abuse. This was a pen and ink sketch of a woman crouched in fear, overlaid with distressed paper bars symbolising the prison of her abusive relationship. This was displayed and SOLD at the Moss Art Gallery in Norway, in support of a local charity working with these women. John Patrick had been approached and invited to submit a piece by the organiser, whom he knew through Twitter.

"Living On The Edge"

John's commercial work as an artist and his continuing voluntary work, brings him into regular contact with people at the edges of society. These people exist in a world where their social norms, are different from the rest of society. Though John has no desire to shock, he does seek to start conversations, about these people on the edges of our societies. Let's talk.
