I pay £50 cash per 2hr session modelled ...what do you have to do for this?
Note: This is available to adult WOMEN and a few MEN
- Life modelling is being totally naked in front of a group of adult artists as they attempt to draw or paint a representation of your posed naked body to paper on their laps. Life Drawing is considered to be the pinnacle skill of a fine artist and has been taught in art school for centuries. Life drawing is NOT sexual. There is NO TOUCHING and NO PHOTOGRAPHY allowed. The model is treated with the highest of respect for the service they are providing to the class and they are well paid for this service.
- A private room is always available for the model to change out of / into their day clothes. It is usual to bring a thin wrap, or a light summer dress, with you and to change into this on arrival at the venue in the changing space provided. You then enter the main hall in this lightly clothed state and only go totally nude immediately before adopting the designated pose. At the end of posing, eg at break time, or if you need to leave the hall for any reason, you always put on your light attire. You will NEVER be expected to walk around the hall or building, when not actually posing, in a naked state. The front door to the building is locked soon after the start of posing, to stop anybody not related to the class from accidentally walking in and seeing you naked.
- For all life drawing sessions, where the sketchers are being charged to attend and JP is acting as a business, the nude model for the session is ALWAYS paid. (Free/volunteer models are never used for business sessions where JP is teaching)
- JP pays £50 cash per 2 hr session modelled. ( £100 for a 4hr sessions, these can occasionally be arranged). JP does not pay travel expenses. The £50 is at the top end of local pay rates for nude modelling and allows for travelling too.
- A life drawing session with JP usually comprises 5-10 very short poses, each less than 2 minutes. Then some poses of longer duration based on the skill level of the model. (New models usually struggle to remain motionless, it is a skill that they develop with practice and with the guidance of JP as their teacher. It is NOT a problem if the model is uncomfortable and needs to move)
- Also it is ok if a model wishes to be accompanied by a chaperone until they feel comfortable with JP and the group, the chaperone will be asked to sit in a corner and not interact with the class. (or they can pay the same as everyone else, £15, and join in with the sketching).
- Depending on your previous experience as a life model, JP may accept you straight away to pose for the group and be paid.
- Some ladies new-to-modelling request to come to a class session, where another model is posing, to see how the group operates. This is not a problem BUT as an attendee at the class you will be expected to pay the same £15 attendance fee as anyone else attending at that time. Free sessions for prospective/new models are not permitted. In a class session, JP is there to teach the attending sketchers, not to look after a new model
- However, if you are new to modelling with little or no experience, JP may ask that you attend a voluntary, unpaid modelling session with him and a lady artist present, to assess you ability to model, or to teach you how better to model for the main (paid) class. Follow this LINK
Who is JP specifically seeking as a new model ...?
- Ideally women & men within walking distance, (or a short drive and have a car), from our sketching location at postcode BB5 3PA
- Women and men over 25 years old. We specifically prefer more mature people as models. Photographic Proof of age may be requested when models are young looking, in our opinion. The oldest woman who has posed nude for my life drawing classes was 85 years old at the time and was hugely popular with the artists, who asked her back time after time
- Preference when deciding to pay a model is usually given to Women, over men. The female body is generally more popular to draw. Even though most of the sketching artists attending are retired ladies.
- Sketching artists like the model to be shapely. For women this can mean very curvy, rubunesque, a BBW, a busty woman with a big bum OR the opposite is just as attractive, a woman who is very slender where the bone structure can be seen. Generally ANY female body-shape is very welcome, especially if you live close enough to be a regularly hired model. Pregnant women are also very popular as life models, though it is accepted they cannot hold long poses and classes adapt to their needs.
- Most models in this area are white/caucasians, but oriental and darker skinned ladies would also be very welcome
- For men, artists are usually looking for toned, flexible men with good bone and muscle structure.
- Models are currently travelling to us from Sheffield and Liverpool and paying their own travel. A LOCAL LADY willing to model for us could become very popular with us and other local life-drawing groups, who also pay their models. Most women who model for life-drawing, find it an enjoyable, easy way to earn good pocket money.
